National Labour Office – Small Area Unemployment Statistics System

This long running project consisted of

  • preparing an extensive feasibility study for the methodology and an information system which provides reliable monthly statistical estimations for various employment data on city, NUTS 3 (county), NUTS 2 (statistical regions) and NUTS 1 (country) levels and it also provides data for the reliability of these estimates
  • developing and testing the data analysis methodology: estimation functions for spatial adjustment and Kálmán-filtering for time series adjustments
  • developing the software and databases, using data supplied regularly by the National Labour Office and the Hungarian Central Statistical Office
  • deploying, operating and maintaining the SAUS information system

The data analysis methods used in SAUS include regression modeling, jackknife variance estimation and time series analysis.
